curriculum

01

The goal of the class

Good instruction is based on student needs. Instruction is geared towards one main purpose, to teach you the Fut Sao system and give you the ability to use it. All students are taught with this focus in mind.

02

Internal Work

Every class incorporates internal work. Fut Sao has special forms that help to build the internal attributes of the system. The sets that we do are very rare and not easily found outside our system.

03

Fut Sao Conditioning

Conditioning exercises done in the Chicago Fut Sao system are utilitarian. Their sole purpose is to help build the attributes and functionality of the student in the Fut Sao Wing Chun system. All students participate in this part of class.

04

Forms

All students are at different places in their wing chun practice. During forms practice each student works on whatever form they are on.

05

2 Man Drills & Exercises

The Chicago Fut Sao Wing Chun Association utilizes a variety of different means to achieve fighting proficiency within the system. Sensitivity exercises such as Chi-Sao, Lap Sao, Poon Sao and Dan Chi Sao are some items practiced. Students also practice the 2 man fighting forms that accompany each form, work on san-sao (self-defense) applications, and a variety of other drills.

Lukh Dim Bun Kwan

Known as the Six and a Half Point Staff, this form contains forms such as "sticky- sticks", as well as offensive and defensive techniques. It develops long range fa-jing and pointing.

2 Man Sets

Each form is accompanied by a two-man fighting form that helps students to synthesize the principles and techniques of each form. The two-man sets are done in a live manner to allow fighting development.

Nei and Hei Kung Sets

Fut Sao Wing Chun also has internal sets that are practiced in order for the student to attain the development of Light Skills, Ging, inch power, Heavy Horse, and Dim Mak. This is a very rare Shaolin set taught out of small villages in Canton.

Sensitivity Drills

Fut Sao incorporates many different types of stimulus response drills to help develop action without thought. In a self-defense situation one needs to act and not think about acting.

Mok Yahn Jong
