In a martial arts class you hit. Hitting can have a lot of impact of the wrist and knuckles. As a martial artist you should make every effort to secure your wrist from injury. An underdeveloped wrist can not sustain the impact of repeated blows. If you do not want your writs to be injured, then do the 2 x 4.

After you engage the board for longer than 30 seconds it is nothing more than a fight of your mind. You must predetermine that you WILL hold it. Don’t give up and surrender. The 2 x 4 is a way to add the weight bearing resistance that stimulates bone growth in a way that will help you both in your martial arts and life.
